I have suffered a hard drive failure, not sure if it is corrupted or a mechanical failure. How can I recover the data on the hard drive?

I bet it's expensive, why not try the hard disk drive manufactures diagnostic software first?

If you purchase a new hard drive then you could install your os on there. Once you are up n running you might be able to slave the drive and recover all your data. If the hard drive fails to get going, then put the hard drive into a sealed plastic bag and place in the freezer for an hour, then try and use it again.

I couldn't solve the problem myself, found "ABC Data Recovery" who only charged £199 for recovering the drive that was "degraded" so the software couldn't access it, I got all my data back on a new drive I sent with the old one.

The data was worth far more than 199
