Hard drive death imminent?

My Western digital 120gb HD is telling me on boot that its failure is 'imminent'.
Or rather it was till I bought a new one (and opened it :( ) now the message has gone.
Do you think I should go with the smart warning or regard it as yet another 'blip'?

If I were you I`d install the new drive as well as the old one and transfer all my precious data to it. Then if the warning was true and it does crash - emitting sounds like "I told you so" - at least you`ve got your data.

I once had a HDD that had smart warnings come up - unfortunately it died forever on the same boot up that the message first appeared. back ur data up! top priorty
