Hard drive in correct size

I have fomatted my hard drive but now shows it being 18Gb instead of 82 Gb i think its a bios thing but not sure can anyone help?. os is xp pro

Maybe i can. First thing is how old is your pc? Usually this can be corrected in the bios by auto detection of hard drive. There should be this option in the main menu. If you have a older pc it may not be able to detect it.

3 months internet was behaving strange so i formatted but now i think it might be a heat problem i have looked in the bios and it shows the right size but on "my computer"it shows only 18Gb
mobo = msi kt4v
cpu = athlon xp 2200
mem = 256 ddr

resolved it now! it was partitioned .i thought fomatting would put it back to one partition!
