It's a fixed size and cannot be changed on a HDD. But you never know what HDD you have?

will tell you what the reason for this question is....for some reason the hard drive actvity light is going on an awful lot more than it ever used to when running applications...have ran spyware and antivirus progs but have found nothing...just wondered if it had anything to do with cache settings

running win xp pro
512 mb ram
athlon 2400+
seagate barracuda 40gb

It may well be the temp internet files cache that you are thinking of. This can be changed:

open internet explorer

internet options

and tell it the amount of space to use.

My suggestions for the settings: if you are on BB, set it low - 5-10mbs - if on dial up, maybe 50-60mb.

cheers for that will try it

pc is now running idle...the only process task manager says is internet....yet hard drive light flickering away??????????
