Hi
I need to buy a new hard drive. Can someone explain is there a difference between IDE & SATA

If so can you mix the two different drives.

Thanks

John

So IDE is old and clunky, whereas SATA is new and zippy. Shouldn't be any problem in mixing them if your motherboard can accept both. Would also need to check compatability with SATA2 (or SATA300 as its occasionally called due to its max speed). Though as they are so cheap click here you might as well only have the one large drive - saves a bit of power and heating (never a bad thing)
