hello ... i want to install a new hardrive (new for old) but ime wondering has anyone got any recommendations in terms of brands for a new drive? i want 200 gb. Is the process straight forward? thanx

1. Will your board / BIOS accept a 200G drive?

2. Have you got all the drivers for your mainboard, grahics card sound card modem etc.

3. You will need to reinstall everthing so back up first.

One method is to fit the new drive as a slave and copy everything across. Maxtor Seagate and Western digital provide software to set up the drive and copy across

ok ...how do i find out weather my board can take a 200 gb drive and secondly how do i back up the drives for sound card,graphic cards and modem?

How old is the PC?

Belarc click here download and run to find out make model and BIOS version as well as any other equipment fitted.
Goto the manufacturers or BIOS site to check if will take 200G drive
