Hard Disk Upgrade

  hotwired 21:03 10 May 03

I have this old pc which is primary used for storage of data (old email, mp3, digital photos... etc)
It running an AMD 900 MHz and running MSI -6191 motherboard,
I wish to add another hard to it say 180 GB as a slave.
Can anyone tell me if this motherboard might require a BIOS upgrade to support
a new 180 GB hard disk? Currently the master is running a 40 GB hard disk.
I have got hold of the motherboard manual it says you can attach 4 hard disks!!!

Big help

The current bios is
BIOS Version/Date American Megatrends Inc. A6191O1 V1.04 14122000, 14/12/2000

Any suggestion will be appreciated

all ya had to do was look at msi's website for the info. heres the link click here and NO, your mobo will not support a 180gb h/drive by the look of things as it appears that you have the latest bios version.

I stand to be corrected but although the mobo BIOS may not support a large capacity drive. You could install a "PCI - IDE Controller card". (i think that is what they are called)

A PCI card with a connection for a HDD.
