hard disk loses 400mb when formatted

  logix 09:29 13 Oct 03

i have bought a second hand 6.4gb drive to use as a slave drive.when formatted it gives me 5,993mb (5.9gb).it seems as though there is some hidden files which i cannot delete.
i have used fdisk as normal,(use maximum available space)but can't claim this 400mb of space. if there are hidden files how can i get rid of them.

There aren't any hidden files, logix. That (5.9gig) is about right for a formatted 6.4 gig drive.
