Hard disk fail

Hi, every time I boot up PC number 2,I recieve error message 'primary master hard disk fail',however,when I press 'Ctrl Alt Delete'it boots ok.This has been happening now for several months,now,the PC is not booting properly at all,I still recieve the same error message,but will only boot to safe mode,any ideas.I think I may need a new hard drive.

click here or try running the manufacturers diagnostic utillity on the drive.

Thanks huggyg71,I have reloaded the op sys win98se ,and now it's working fine,however I,m still recieving the 'primary master hard disk fail'error message on boot up,I'll see how she performs before I do further checks.

Might well be worth checking the ide cable has not developed an intermitent break.
