Hard Disk Error

I currently use a 2GB Caviar HDD for Windows 2000 and I recently purchased a 40GB Caviar HDD for extra storage and flight sim. It was partitioned into 4.

The 2 GB is now to small and I tried to load Windows 2000 on to the 40Gb HDD and it gave me a blue error screen saying the boot device was inaccesable and that I should run fdsk and check for viruses. After doing that I deleted all the partitions and tried to reinstall w2000. I asked me to create a partion and then when it went to format the partition it said the disk was currupt.

I returned the old disk and got a new one and the same message has appeared.

Can anyone help?

PC is Athlon XP 2000+, w2000, gigabyte motherboard.

Have you tried using Seagate diagnostic tools see if they can come up with any solutions
