I am about to buy an additional hard disc for video editing purposes, was going for an
IBM / Hitachi 180GXP 120Gb 7200rpm ATA100 2mb Cache, as they are a very good price. But have read some bad reports. Anyone got one of these?
Or what about a Seagate barracuda 7200rpm would have to be 80gig udma100 though as they are dearer, apparantly this is a very quiet disk! Any advise please.

Are a good quality drive and have fluid dynamic bearings, so they will run as quiet as most, and certainly a lot less noise than some drives.

180 ATA/100/133 will be a good choice, also one with a 8mg cache, much faster at retrieving data. J.

Djohn, Megatyte, clayton and Powerless have said it all.

IBM is a no, no.
