Ibought a packard bell 2426 computer o/s vista home premium.
It was advertised with a hard disc copacity of 320GB.
As soon as i did the initial set up brought up computer and it showed up as 286GB. I no that has the O/S on the disc in the PARTITION. Ialso realise that there are vavious trial offers i.e Norton anti virus and Office 2007 on the disc but Icannot believe this amounts to 44GB.
PC WORLD Techguy customer services insist this is correct. Could anyone advise if Iam being ripped off.

Gigs are rounded down to 1000Mb per Gig true gig is 1024mb

Packard Bell pc's usually have a hidden restore partition with an image of O/S (vista in your case) on so that would use a few gig that wouldn't show up.

No you are not being ripped off, the figures are about right. The machine I am using now has two 500Gb drives. One shows and 465Gb and the other, which has a second partiton for the image, as 455Gb.
