handwriting to text

  caspia1 22:16 03 Apr 05

My wife is writing a book and has handwritten several hundred A4 sheets.
The cost for professionally taking her text and typing it is really very expensive.
I would like to know if there is a programme I can buy that will scan the handwriting and subsequently convert to a Word Document.
I suspect she might have to "teach" the programme her style, as per PDAs.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Far more efficient is speech to text. The software for this is much more advanced than handwriting to text and, with only about 20 minutes training your computer, you can achieve better than 90% accuracy.

Look up speech to text in Google for details of the software available. Dragon is claimed to be very good.

If your wife gets good at this, she will have no need to do the writing stage, just speak direct to the computer.

Dragon is superb sight disadvantaged folk swear by it.

But it is no bad thing, to write the copy
some folk 'speak through their fingers'

Than when satisfied with the writen copy speak it through the computer through dragon.
