Halt on Bootup -Search for boot record from floppy

After correcting an error in connecting my HDs thru' a Promise controller to the Gigabyte GA7VRXP
mobo and having problems with HD identification in PM6 and WinXP, I have now corrected this.

But on boot up, immediately after HD detection, I get a halt after the message

searching for boot record from floppy

invalid system disk
replace the disk and press any key

when I do as told, the computer boots noramlly.

I have determined that this has nothing to do with windows 98se and not apparently with the BIOS.

How can I rectigy this please - any advice gratefully tried!

Go into BIOS and Under the boot devices change Floppy to Hard Drive you can change it back if you ever need to

I am afraid it is more fundamenatl than booting from HD first. Still halts on the same message.

Anything else I can do?

Check MSCONFIG from run box, setup tab, and look for floppy
