Halifax log in page sieze up

My new HP Probook 4710s, running Windows 7 Pro, has a most unusual problem and I wonder if anyone has a suggestion to overcome it.
Every other day or so, when I am logging in to the Halifax banking site, the touchpad, keyboard and webcam all seize up and I have to reboot to get working again.
I have updated all drivers and have tried IE8,Firefox and Google Chrome web browsers but the problem still occurs about every tenth time that I try to log in to the halifax website.
I have also tried removing all other USB devices but to no avail.
I am using Trend Micro seurity and it reports nothing untoward.
My older Windows XP desktop has never had this problem.
I regularly need to log on to Halifax, so I really would appreciate any ideas.

Maybe try with the firewall switched off.See if that makes any difference.

how old are your Java or adobe flash player apps?

I'm a little unsure about turning off the firewall as I would need to run the computer (with internet access) for a day or two without firewall protection in order to show whether or not the problem is resolved.

The laptop and software is all less than a month old but I will check with the java and flash websites to see if there are any updates for me.
