Half Life 2 and Lost World Crashing

When I play the Single player mode for these games, it ends up crashing with the sound looping, I did the steam crash test all ok.

System Specs

AMD 64 3800
2 Gig of Ram
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS
BFG Nvdia 8800GTX
Hiper 580watt PSU

Any Suggestions?

all i can think of is your temperatures, do you know what they are?

What OS - Vista or XP? 8800 drivers are not great in Vista.

The first thing I would check would be graphics and sound drivers, it may also be a good idea to check that up to date motherboard chipset drivers are installed.

Have you tried looking for the latest drivers for your Audigy....I seem to remember there being a lot of people having sound problems with HalfLife2 when it came out.

I'll have a look on the Steam forums and see what I can dig up....In the mean time look at this click here
