I have put a new hard drive in my Inter Pent 4 and loaded XP. I have now lost my sound and graphics are very poor. When trying to change settings it will not let me and is set at Lowest [4 bit] screen resolution 640 by 480. I have tried going into display and list all modes but that has not helped. I do not understand why both sound and picture have been effected. If I have to update drivers how do I know what type they are. Sorry for ignorance

You need to Load XP drivers for the Graphics card Adapter and Sound

As the others have said you need the motherboard drivers, you should have a disk and if you can't find it you will need to download them from the Compaq website.
