Group policy snap in - not working.

  pc_doctor 17:45 31 Aug 05

I have a Windows Server 2000 SP4, and 3 XP PRO machines.

I have manged to set up usernames etc in active directory, but when it comes to group policy, and deploying it on XP, where by i click on the domain controller in active directory users, and add a group policy.

Say in group policy, i wanted to set the Homepage for internet explorer as click here - for example, this wouldn't take effect on a Windows XP machine logged in as the domain member. It is as if the whole group policy feature doesn't work.

Cheers. Jon

There must be something you have done wrong.

Make sure you have applied the group policy to the group of users you wish to lock down.

Have you created a seperate OU for your new users and created a GP for that container?

If so, are you still allowing inheritance to the group policy?

To stop the inhertiancy, click the tick box on the opening window of the GPO.
