Grokster - Spyware

  Halmer 20:32 18 Mar 05

I downloaded a new Anti Spyware package today to try. Can't recall the name as I've deleted it now. I told me that I have a serious threat via Grokster but I have to register and pay to remove it.

Ad Aware, Microsoft, Spybot, A2 do not find it. Am I being conned?

probably a con happens a lot if your pc is running ok ignore it

Well, there's a surprise - we've found something on your PC - now pay up to remove it.

Don't touch with a barge pole (or your wallet).

Stick to the freebies which are more than adequate.

click here for details about Grokster.
click here (Bazooka) for details of how to detect and hopefully remove any associated spyware.

Bazooka says that I'm clear as well.

stalion's probably got it right. There's a number of antispyware applications on the market which attempt to sell their product by good old fear. Trying to con an unwary person into believing that their p.c. has a nasty infection, which, if they purchase the advertised product, then they're sure to be 'cured'. The following products have been listed elsewhere as 'requiring careful consideration prior to purchase'. click here
