Grey background to scanned documents

I spoke too soon on this query:

"When using the Smart Panel "Copy" to photocopy text documents (black ink on white paper) the copy has a grey shade where the white should be. Is there any way to overcome this?
Printer is Epson Stylus Photo 890. PC is XP Home."

The replies sorted a straight photo copy but when I scan to file (to copy and add more text using Picture-It)I still get the grey background.

I've done a test print before copying it to Picture-It and the grey is already there.

Trikie I can only say what I said before in your previous thread.

Scan as black and white.

Don't use auto, grey scale or colour.

Even with black and white you may need to experiment with the lighter/darker setting. Suggest you keep going lighter until you achieve a white background. Too dark and it will be grey.

Thanks. I was using b&w, will now try varying the settings,
