I have just installed a new PCI graphics card - 3d prophet 4000xt on my pc and am having problems with my graphics becomming corrupt with letters and graphics becoming unreadable, but this only happens some times and other times it works just great. also sometimes my monitor will not start up when I switch the PC on, this has also only happened since the installation of the new card.

Please can anyone help.

I'm not an expert but it could be that the card isn't exactly perfectly sat in the slot. If the box has been knocked, or it happens more when the system is hot (which could warp things and pull it out) this is a maybe. Although if you installed it yourself you've probably had the box open a few times already to prod it in and check!!

Did you remove the previous drivers for your grhpx card?

You will need to give us a bit more details, like system/Spec.

Have you checked there are no bent pins on the Monitor cable? also reseat the card.
