Graphics Problem ?

Recently when I boot my machine it gets to the desktop then changes to a lower resolution, and of course the Icons have moved. It doesn't always happen, I have updated the graphics driver but it hasn't made any difference.
Any ideas system restore has not worked.

I take you have checked the leads are firmly plugged in and card seated firmly.

is the graphics card overheating?

That's an odd one - my money would be on the graphics card - but no certainty.

Thanks for the replies
Sunny It's a laptop so not easy to check inside.

DieSse I still think it's the graphics, I didn't mention but after the desktop opens in a low resolution, it often then goes black and corrects itself.

its not your sony one is it.

It's a driver issue/conflict I think. I occasionally have had the same problem on most of my graphics cards. ATI cards seem to be more affected than nVidia ones.

Some driver versions don't exhibit this behaviour at all, but I always install the latest most often than not. G

Hi, mine is NVIDIA g Force Go 7400. Any suggestions?

we have same graphics in our sony.

sony parts are very expensive a real rip off I hope its just a software issue for you.

i would open it up and check the card.

I have just been back into Display properties and I have changed the monitor from Default to generic. I have rebooted 3 times and it has been OK.
I will just have to wait and see what happens.
If it occurs again I will have to do as you say and check the card.
Thanks
