Graphics problem

When I run MS Flight SimX or Aces High II from the hard drive the monitor screen goes blank (and shows "no signal") after just a few minutes.

Viewsonic VX712 ATI RadeonX800 1024x768

Any ideas why this happens?

Cheers.

Have you got the latest drivers for your graphics card - also needs a pretty high-spec pc to run these progs.

Go into the options in Flight Sim and set the levels to minimum for things like scenery detail. If it works increase the settings until it gives the same problem.

Technotiger has also pointed to another solution.

Thanks for that.
So,is there an easy way to find out if you need updated drivers and, if so, get them.
I did the windows update thing and it said none were available.

Look here for latest drivers for your graphics card.

Thanks to all for replies.

I referred this graphics failure to Evesham who have made the standard reply that it's probably some background application that is the problem.

I would have thought this unlikely?

You don't happen to have the folding at home graphical client running do you? I've had similar problems due to it running in the background with full screen games

WindowsUpdate rarely has the very latest drivers for hardware - Technotiger's advice should be followed.

Latest drivers are version 6.9:

I have a Radeon card but only use the driver itself.

In place of the big Catalyst software I use ATi Tray Tools which is a very modest download and still provides all the features. See:

By the way, don't get confused by the AMD link - it bought ATi not so long ago.
