Graphics and Motherboard?

I was looking at this motherboard ( click here ) and was wondering, how good is it for the price, also, I was wondering what is like, the cheapest crossfire motherboard that can have Intel Q6600 Quad Core in it. And how much power would I need if I was to use crossfire in it?

The link you've given is to the 4850 not the motherboard?

Many low to mid-range Crossfire motherboards will not run both slots at the 16x speed. They may vary from 4x to 8x.

According to Tech Support at Corsair their HX620W PSU will run 2 x 4870 with a Quad Core Extreme, 4 hard disks and 4GB RAM to give you a rough idea.

Oh, sorry, I ment I was looking at a graphics card, and was wondering what crossfire motherboards will run both with Intel Q6600 space.

I'm looking to find the cheapest PSU that will run it since I don't have much money.

A cheap PSU can be a bad decision. A cheap one could fail and write off the motherboard, PCU, hard disks etc.

This is a bit tongue in cheek but is a demo of what could happen click here

How much do you want to spend on a motherboard and are you prepared to compromise on having one that won't run CrossFire at the full 16x speed?

Hmm, would my current 420W power supply be enough for the 4850 just on it's own?

Since if that can happen to my PC I'd rather just get one graphics card and then update the PSU then mobo then another graphics card when I have the money.

I've just had a quick play with Crysis on a 4GHz Quad Core system with an HD4870. The highest power draw was around 260W so you should be well under with a 4850 and 420W.

Just to add if I run my HD4850 in the system above in Crossfire at 8x I get only about a 30% performance increase. Not to be sniffed at but an expensive way of getting a 10fps increase.

In that case, I'll just buy a new graphics card then if it's going to be expensive
