How much memory do I need if I dont play games. The reason I ask is that a laptop I am interested in purchasing only has 32Mb. Is this enough

  Thalmus 22:30 20 Jan 06

If your not playing games then that is enough

Agree with Thalmus though the more memory the better, it would run smoother and faster and allow more programs to run at the same time. If it only has 32mb it has to be a older second hand laptop. Depending on what you're paying have a look here as well click here but be aware of the short guarantee times.

32 Mb is fine if you don't play games. However note it is "32 Shared" which means it used 32 Mb out of the system RAM (256 Mb) so you will only have 224 Mb system RAM left for all other applications.

Decent CPU, but the rest of the spec. is poor.... Windows XP uses a lot of RAM.

Find it hard to believe they sold many of those machines for £799.

I would buy something else if I were you.

When you said 32mb memory I assumed that was system memory and it was an old 486 laptop, I didn't realise you were on about the 32mb graphics which s borrowed from the system memory. Sorry I misunderstood, can't advise on the laptop itself as to be honest I don't know enough about the differences between the processors. Regarding the RAM XP will run quite happily on the 224mb you have left albeit not especially fast.

I have bought it for £599 with a free printer and case.
This might be a silly question but does the ddr ram from my desktop fit in a laptop. Just thinking aloud really.

Go to Crucial.co.uk and use their search to get compatable RAM is normally installed via a small hatch on the bottom of the laptop.
