I wonder if someone can advise me please. I am running an NVIDIA GeForce 9800GTX 256mb graphics card. I have been given a new NVIDIA GeForce 6200LE 128m. I don't know much about pc's, I'm afraid, but would like to know whether I can plug the 6200LE in to my pc to combine the power or not. My system is a Dell Dimension 9150, with Pentium D CPU 3ghz, 2048 mb ram on windows xp.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Sorry, my mistake, it's a 7800GTX not a 9800GTX.

  gudgulf 13:48 28 Nov 06

No you can't..........certainly not in an SLI set-up.

The 6200Le is a bottom of the range budget card in any case and several leagues below the performance of a 7800GTX.

Thanks for a prompt reply. Does this mean I could put an identical 7800GTX on and double the power?

Read this for information on SLI click here

If you can find an identical 7800GTX cheaply it would bring your graphics right up to near the top of todays standards on supported games.

However with the latest generation of DirectX 10 cards now coming out I would be thinking of putting any spare cash towards one of those.

Particularly as the 7800GTX is a very powerful card on its own.........Do you have any particular reason for needing a big boost in graphics performance?

And would the rest of your system be up to it?

I have Just purchased 2X 512MB GEFORCE 7900GS for SLI
However
I would like to purchase the 1G 7950GX2(SLI Enabled) i currently have 500W power supply will i need to upgrade this to 600W

Thanks Gudgulf. I don't have a big desire for increased graphics power at the moment - more curiousity than anything else at the moment. I'm not sure whether my system is up to it as I don't know what's important, the ram or processor. The processor is 3ghz and I have 2048mb of ram. Thanks again.

You'll get more response posting a separate thread............but since you ask a decent 500W psu will be fine.

It's worth finding reviews on the graphics card you have in mind at click here as they always include psu recommendations and a measured value for power consumption of the test system as a whole.

Here's what they say about a system using a 7950GX2 click here

I don't know if you'll find a 7800GTX at all - there weren't that many made, I don't think.

Thanks Gudgulf i think i will stick to one 7950GX2 with 500W at the moment and upgarde to 800W when i puchase two 7950GX2's(Overkill)in the near future thanks again
