Graphics card upgrade

  bolo 22:25 13 Feb 03

I am looking to upgrade my graphics card (Currently a Geforce 3 TI 200 64mb ddr) to something with a bit more beef preferably less than 2 hundred pounds, I only really need the extra power for games so Tv outs and such like don't interest me.
I have looked at the Geforce 4 TI 4600 it has alot of poke but is it going to be short lived as it is not capable of direct x 9 or 8x agp, my motherboard supports 8x agp.
Ati radeons have caught my eye but i dont want to pay £250+ for the 9700 Pro, and wondered if the ordinary 9700 at around £200 was close performance wise to the 9700 Pro. Both the ATI cards support 8 x agp and direct x9.
I have read that the bandwith (throughput of the 9700 pro is around 19 gig/sec while the TI 4600 is 10.4 gig/sec, I can't seem to get a figure on the 9700 reegarding throughput. Any ideas?
