For an 8x AGP card within your budget, try this one:
It combines the GeForce 660 GPU with 256Mb of memory. performance for the price should be OK.

...sorry, 6600 GPU...

for your price range i would have to agree with rmcqua a 6600 would give you a reasonable performance without breaking your budget

Thanks to both will check that out later.

It's an MSI card, comes overclocked, has video in, and comes with 3 games!

I'm having one.

For those of a PCI-express persuasion the equivalent card is even cheaper!!

Unless you're really interested in the bundled games, I think i would rather have the extra 128Mb. Having said that, I do like MSI cards.

I'd also consider this click here bit over your budget but its a GT card and is faster, its the only AGP card in the PCA charts.
The MSI one that keef66 mentioned will also be an excellent card, I have had 3 MSI graphics cards in the past 4 years and they have all been excellent. Got a MSI 6600GT just now but its a PCI Express one.

I don't think the extra memory makes a lot of difference on these mid range cards.
You're right though, the bundled games are pants by todays standards, and I'll probably never play them. It's still a good price for the card though.

Thought it might be of interest to dan12 so he's got something to play with when he installs his shiny new card.

Thanks,
and yes will be a good starting point to gaming, then at a later date can upgrade. Not to sure of the difference with an msi card or the gpu are they differenrt manufacturers, or does it have something to do with the chipset?
thanks for help have a good choice to look plus others have looked at.
Just wanted a bit of an idea as to what other people thought.
