graphics card problem

Update to issue "uh-oh" see previous entry.

My geForce 9600 graphics card is now properly connected. The PC recognieses it etc.

However, when I install the cd (DVD?) to update drivers etc the following happens...

The Gforce installation screen comes up and says you need to uninstall existing drivers first.

I press ok and though it seems to be reading the DVD/CD, it freezes and never gets past the initial uninstall screen.

Is there a way to uninstall the old drivers independently? Any other advice?
