Graphics Card problem

I have recently installed a AGP graphics card on my motherboard but when the machine is booted it states that the frequency is incorrect and then the monitor powers down. Any ideas please or do I have to get another card?

Sounds like your graphics card is trying to display a refresh rate that your monitor cannot display.

Did you remove the old drivers before installing your new AGP card?

No as I thought the new graphics card would override the onboard graphics card.

If you have an onboard graphics card you probably need to disable this in the BIOS before installing the AGP card.

What motherboard do you have?

I have a foxconn 400 series motherboard, but in the manual it does not state how to disable the onboard graphics.

Take a look here

More or less explains what to do.

To enter BIOS for your mobo its probably the DEL key.

Post again if you have any problems.

And one more thing!

You will need to uninstall the old graphics driver before doing anything else.

Cheers for the info I will try later on today.
