graphics card install

I have tried to install my new graphics card more than once now.

I have onboard graphics on the motherboard at the moment, and the instruction say to disable these, how do i do that?

If i put the card in i have to put the video cable in the back of it, when i do this i only get 640 x 480 screen graphics even though i have installed the drivers.

If i take out the card and plug the video cable back into the motherboard socket, i get proper screen graphics once again.

have you looked in your BIOS to see if there`s a disable on board graphics option?

what motherboard do you have?

You can disable the on board graphics by entering the motherboard bios. Now the drivers are installed you will need to enter the display properties window to change the resolution. You can do this by opening the control panel window, then double clicking display.

It should tell you in the motherboard manual. You may have to enter the bios on startup to disable onboard graphics. The manual should tell you how.
