My PC is a Dell Dimension 8400 Series.
i need to adive on which graphics card to buy for christmas. The card is mainly needed for playing games. I am currently having to play Battlefield 2142 on the lowest settings and want to get a card that will run this game at a higher resolution and future games such as STALKER.

i want to spend about £100
would this one do the job? : click here
or this cheaper one? : click here

Can't find a Dimension 8400 on Dell's site so I can't see if you have a graphics card slot and if so, what kind. Any idea? What's it say in your manual about upgrading the graphics??

OK, I have found some info on Dimension 8400's on the web which suggest it has PCI-express x16 graphcs.

Really need to know what card you have at the moment if we're to suggest something better.

Of the links you provided, forget the X1600 card. The X1900GT would be pretty good though. I personally prefer Nvidia cards, and for the same money (£130)you could get a 7900GT. If you want to be closer to your £100 budget go for a 7600GT.

Have a look online at Ebuyer, Scan, Novatech, Savastore etc.
