Graphics Card appears to be underperforming

My current basic system configuration is:-

AMD Athlon 1.33ghz CPU
512mb PC2100 DDR RAM
Windows XP (SP1)
PNY Verto GeForce4 Ti4200 (64mb) Graphics Card

Graphics Driver version 41.09
DirectX v9

When I am running 3DMark SE 2003 I get an average score of about 600. When I look at the results for similar configuration on the benchmark website, most people appear to get scores around 1100-1300.

What could be causing such a drastic difference?

Anyone got a good idea?

try it in 3dMark2001SE and post back. There may be an issue involving you graphics card as 3dMark03 is new.

I think that 3DMark2001SE has a bit of an issue with DirectX 9. However, I'll see what happens. Cheers

Your 3D Mark 2003 score maybe slightly low due to you not altering the driver settings and dont forget it is a DX9 benchmark and you have a DX8 card. As has been mentioned use 3D Mark 2001 with the latest patch to make it work with DX9 as this is a DX8 benchmark for DX8 cards. this is mine at full scream click here using the default benchmark.

Driver settings you might like to use:
Anti aliasing off
Mipmap to highest performance
Ansiotropic filering off
Basical anything in the D3D settings that can slow it down turn it off.

Cheers guys. 3DMark2001 gives a better representation compared to others.

Another point, other users may be overclocking their cards, helping them gain a better score.
