Graphic cards

I have recently bought a nividia gt 6600 graphic card and tried to install it. However the metal contacts you slot into the computer are the wrong way round! It is if my card and the computer have opposite contacts. I was wondering why this is the case and how do i know which graphic card will fit my computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

There are only 3 types of contacts as far as I know. There is PCI, old now and hard to get very unlikely that a new card like this is a PCI one. So the card is either AGP or PCIE (PCI Express). AGP slots on the motherboard are brown. If thats what you have and the card doesn't fit then I would check the graphics card because I think you may have a PCIE one and if so then you should try to return it as it won't fit.
