up grading

I built my computer about three years ago (well slotted it all together with a bit of help). Now I am in the situation where I need to up grade to play the bigger games now.
However I need to buy more memory. I know i have 512 mb but when going to buy some more I was told I also need to know the speed. (i.e. 333?)Have looked on the stick itself; tried to spot it on the imfo when I first boot up. anybody any ideas if there are any ways i can track down the speed of my memory.
