Grabbing still images from saved video files

  Pineapple 14:51 07 Jan 04

I know how to capture a still image from an external video source connected to my PC, but does anyone know of a simple application that would conveniently grab a single still image (1 frame) from a movie file already saved on the PC's Hard Drive. I have Windows Media player 9 and several other video apps, none of which will do the job.

Hi MichelleC,

Ulead's VideoStudio 6 and Sonic "My DVD"

My DVD is more a burning prog (it's used as an extra to Sonic's, or now Sony's, video editing suites. I'm surprised Ulead can't do it (maybe it's not clear how to do it). I'm even more surprised they don't seem to have their own support forum for VS.

BTW I've used their tech support for PhotoImpact and was very impressed. They take a day or two to reply. Anyway here's 2 free dv editors which may grab stills: click here and click here

I have just figured out how to grab a still image using Ulead VideoStudio 6.
It's all on page 46 of the user guide, but I find it is not that obvious to do.

Thank you MichelleC for your help.
