GPU recommendations for 2560x1080 display?

(Lost my first posting. Apologies if this appears twice.)

I just set up my new Dell u2913WM. I took the gamble--and lost--that my AMD Radeon HD 6870 GPU would cater for the ultrawide format (2560x1080). No way. Although the 6870 says it will cater for "up to" 2560x1600, that, apparently did not mean 1080v. The best I can get is 1920x1080, which leaves me with a horribly stretched screen. (Curiously it stays at 1920 even when the SETTING says 2560.)

I don't do gaming, but I hate waiting and so hanker for the fastest gpu I can afford--which is round about the 6870's range.

I've been looking, but every card I find quotes the same old "up to" 2560 malarkey, with none actually specifying 2560x1080.

Anyone able to recommend a card they know will cater for a 2560x1080 display?

Hi Phrixos, I saw you same post on the AMD forums and was curious if you found an answer. I have 2 6870s and was thinking of picking up the LG 2560x1080. But now I may have to rethink.

Looking at other setups though, I have heard that the dual-link DVI input is required for higher resolution setups for other cards.

Try using DVI-D Dual link cable , should solve the prob
