Does anyone know why I have no power please?

Shouldn't you have a power cable from PSU to the drive?

You've connected a power cable to the converter to let it work but you also need a power cable to the drive itself.

You won!

Hi

I connected the power lead but still no difference.
If I take the IDE cable out it will come on though.

I have a similar one that will not work with 'newer' motherboards.

What's you motherboard make & model?

And where did you buy the adapter from? G

Hi

Its a H67MP Series and the converter I got from a local shop today.

Just says FG ADSAIDE S3811-1A1-BC21

And the DVD is a NEC DVD±RW AD-5170

If I cannot get the converter working by tomorrow I might just take it back to the shop and try a new SATA DVD Rom in steed.

I only have this one drive so cannot check another one.

That's a very new motherboard, isn't it? My one will only work with a S939 motherboard (circa 2004/5?) & earlier.

Yes, a SATA optical drive is the way to go, especially as they are so cheap these days - here's one for just over £11 delivered from Play click here. More choice for only a little extra: click here, click here, click here & click here. G

I got a Samsung SH-S223 and have been able to put Windows 7 64 bit on my machine now.
