The DirectX 9.0 runtime cannot be uninstalled. We recommend Windows Me and Windows XP users create a "System Restore" point before installing.

i take it the only way is to reformat my hard drive and start again .

You can use system restore if your OS has it,
or try this -

But it doesn't matter that your card isn't dx9 as no games/apps are either!

ive downloaded the program as ive tried system restore but it wont let me as it says no changes were made , uninstaller asks where I386 directory of my windows cd is stored , any ideas as my file search didnt pull it up.

Unless dx9 is causing you problems with stability etc. I would simply leave it - M$ will sooner rather than later release an updated version anyway, hence dx8.1 + 8.1b.

To clarify, I havn't used the dx9 uninstaller - I did install dx9 but I had to re-install my OS for a different prob. so it whent anyway
