google portal

For some reason which is not apparent to me I now get a GOOGLE portal page displayed. It doesn't stop anything else working but it is annoying having it just sitting there when I go to my desktop. I have to look through the general parts in order to see and activate my short-cuts.
I've tried editing the start-up but I can see nothing that appears to relate to GOOGLE. Any help please.

hi belsox
have you gone into your control panel and clicked on add and remove programmes and see if there is a google programme there that can be deleted to remove the problem

If I startup there is a message 'No response from website [in an IE7 format] but this turns to Google as soon as it connects to broadband.!
