Use nslookup click here to try resolving this google.co.uk and other domain names, see whether DNS servers work well. If having problem, try to configure following free DNS servers provided by OpenDNS click here on computer and test again:

208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

thanks for the suggestion on nslookup, i've already tried open dns as i know BT's nameservers are up and down a lot.

It also did it on my old pc running xp, same script, would timeout in iE and firefox.

maybe i'll try flashing the router firmware, i noticed an update on usr's website.

thanks again

flashed router, still same problem. if i reboot vista, works fine for a while then starts timing out again, no malware, virus or spyware, scanned for them.

finally working better, i went into router, found bt's dns server addresses and went into another menu which had a dns submenu which just had zero's for the addresses. i entered bt's and now it's running fine.

must be a router problem.
