Has anyone used Google's Download Search Tool?

Just what to know what people's opinion was on it?

I assume you mean desktop search.

Whilst I've removed it, it was excellent. If you did a search for stuff on your computer, it came back with the results looking like an internet search.

It's very fast and very good, I've only removed it as an attempt to have a 'lean mean machine'.

...didn't search network drives IIRC - which was key for me. Not so important for home user.

I installed it.

It's fantastic! As you would expect it is very very quick.

A Windows search is too slow. I believe they are improving it with Win 'Longhorn'.

In the meantime I reconmend Google's Desktop search. The main reason I got it was to search my email. Outlook is rubbish at doing this.

I would like it if you could choose more parameters when seraching.

Apart from that it's great!

I tried Google Search but found it had limitations. For example it would still list obsolete files.

I then tried Copernic Desktop Search also free and found it to be far superior.
