Google Chrome start page problem - How to restore a link

  ened 11:22 02 Apr 15

I have Chrome set up so that the 8 most commonly visited web sites appear on the start page.

This morning I moved the cursor over one of them and inadvertently clicked or did something which caused it to be removed from the Chrome start page. I still have eight pages showing because, presumably, the ninth most visited has been put in.

I would like to know what I have done to cause this and, more importantly, how to restore the missing link.

Go to

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default

find file called "Preferences."

Open the file with a text editor, the list of 8 tabs are at the bottom.

modify the locations, i.e. add the site address that you want to appear.

I couldn't find: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default.

I did find: Username/AppData/Local/Google/Chrome/User Data/Default.

But this is a large file and the eight items do not appear as a group.

Thanks for your suggestions. I can't see how to "open a site in a separate tab and drag the site’s favicon to the Apps section as shown in the video below"

I'm obviously missing the point somehow but I can't bring up the apps except on a new tab, thus I have nowhere to drag and drop to.
