Hi

A mate required his wpa key from his router to connect another wireless device. Since he had forgotten it I decided to help by resetting the router.

Unfortunately this has had disasterous results. His wirelss network will not reconnect to anything now.

Vista laptop - netgear dg834g router - aol

After reset I tried to reinstall the network via the aol installation disk using an ethernet cable. It now states that it cannot detect the router.

One hour on aol helpline has established that the router has an internet connection (which I already knew) but no answers as to why the router cannot be found on a wired connection!! (at least no answers on the screens the "technicians" were reading from.

Please someone help this poor misguided fool who has done a friend a favour through his little (and dangerous) knowledge.

Thanks for reading

Fruit Bat

Thanks. The web page seems familiar to the actual disk installer, and unfortunately aol will not log on and web pages cannot be accessed (though he can still access the netgear router page - 192.168.0.1)

where do I find device manager in vista?
