please state the model of the motherboard you have.

GA-7VAXP is the one i referred to above.

the newer version is GA-7VAXP Ultra, identical but with serial ata as well.

Expect to pay £75.00 for the older version and £95.00 for the ultra.

As a system builder I use them lots
Not the fastest but very stable.
If you want faster speeds then try Asus.

Avoid all in one boards if poss , ok for light use but nothing serious

I have a 7VTXH which I bought when I built my present computer because it was reviewed as very stable, had the ability to upgrade the BIOS from the Gigabyte web site. It also has a dual BIOS system which means if a virus gets at your BIOS there is another ready to take over.
It was easy to set up and configure and on the basis that I have hardly looked at it since I would buy from the same company again

GA-SINXP1394(GA-8SQ800 Ultra2)
SiS 655 chipset

I wanted to just swap over my current setup to the new motherboard, my current setup consisting of:

P4 2.4
1Gb of DDR (2x 512)
120Gb HDD
40Gb HDD
40Gb HDD (will get this soon)
Leadtek A250 TD Ultra GF4 Ti4600
Creative Audigy 2 Platinum
Linksys LAN card
Leadtek Multimedia card 2000XP delux
Liteonit DVD
Liteonit CDRW
FDD
Chieftec case

I shouldn't expect and probs should i?
i mean if i just swap the hardware over. i've got a intel 845D chipset at the moment and the new card will have SiS 655 Chipset.

Thanks
Nas

You may be lucky and windows will run and you will then just need to install the new mobo drivers etc
BUT. be prepared for windows to fall flat on its face and you will then need to reinstall and poss reformat.

Back up anything you need to save first

Good luck
