Gigabyte Geforce 7600GS graphics card problem

  terryf 19:37 13 Nov 06

I have just installed a gigabyte Geforce 7600GS graphics card with one monitor but I get a nagging message every time I reboot saying that 'SLI multi GPU rendering disabled, one of the cards removed'. Any suggestions how to stop the nag, I have only ever had one card, I have system restored to before card and software and re-installed software. Winxp pro sp2 on gigabyte GA-8I915G-MF mobo.

Thanks skidzy, I will try your suggestions after a cuppa and a piece of cake

Well, I restored back to before card installation, disconnected from router, un-installed all nvidia drivers un-installed AVG (no other AV software) installed drivers and lo and behold, the nag came back. Any more suggestions please. The nag does go away by itself but it is annoying

The answer is a reg file containing [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\MediaCenterTray]
"NvCplDisableBalloonNotifications"=dword:00000001 called sliballoon.reg on the nvidia site

  skidzy 23:58 13 Nov 06

Did the sliballoon.reg fix sort it Terry ?

  terryf 23:59 13 Nov 06

Sorry skidzy, I went googling and didn't see your answer which of course is the solution but why don't nvidia put an addenda or something to say their driver is grotty, nvidia forums say that a fix was promised but then I didn't win the lottery this week either

By all accounts its supposed to have been added a long time ago, going back to the 84. drivers, lots of unhappy people with the same problem.

Glad your sorted terry
