My Friend just brought a GF4 MX440, 64mb DDR, and put it in and has a problem that when the system boots up, the screen goesall jumbled up.

This then happens as it goes into windows and it carries on.

The screen goes like straight lines down the screen, but the lines are all mixed up.

The system is K7S5A board, 512mb SD 133, XP1800.
Did have a 32 sis mb card that booted up fine, also has TV card, 5.1 Sound, modem and network card. There is no conflicts from what i have seen and i cant see anything snapped off the card.

I thought it could be a corrupt software on the card, but am not sure, so anyoe got an idea?

Did you Remove any entries from sis in add Remove programs?

Have you installed the G-Force drivers?

All traces of sis gone,

cant get into anythng to install the drivers for card.

when i installed mine, you plugged it in and it worked at a low resolution which was still readable, he wasn't.

He also uses XP Pro.

It's probably faulty then - can you try it in another system to check?

In the bios is the AGP set to 2x or 4x and the AGP appeture to 64?

  Pilch.... 13:15 23 Jan 03

where do you set the appeture?

Have you tried booting in safe mode? You should be able to remove all traces of your old card and install the drivers for the new one.

Also set your display from safe mode to a low resolution.
