Ok, my computer is old and I need a new one. I went to a website where you can design your PC.

This is what I put together:

PROCESSOR: Intel Pentium 4 2.4 GHz (SKT 478)
FAN: Super Silent UPTO 2700+ (SKT A)
MOTHERBOARD: Jetway Polaris + Sound (DMA1B3)(ATX)(SKT A)(DDRAM)
MEMORY: 512 MB DDR400 DDRAM
HARD DRIVE: 80 GB Maxtor DMA133 (7200 RPM)
GRAPHICS CARD: 128 MB GeForce 4T1-4200 DDR
DVD-ROM DRIVE: 16x LG IDE DVD ROM
FLOPPY DRIVE: APS 3.5 inch 1.44 MB Floppy Drive
SOUND CARD: Creative Labs SBLIVE AUDIGY Sound Card
SPEAKERS: Nicole 480W Subwoofer & Speakers
MODEM: HCF 56K V92 Modem
CASE: Black/Silver ATX Midi Case 300W
KEYBOARD & MOUSE: Mercury RF Wireless Keyboard & Mouse
OPERATING SYSTEM: Microsoft Windows XP Home
OTHER: Microsoft Works

All for £841

So...

1) Is that any good?

2) What is a Network Card?

3) Memory is 512 MB, but what does 'Memory in Bank 1' mean?

Any answers and advice would be great. Thanks

Is it addons/microland uk?

Anyway:

1) Is that any good? Looks like you have chosen a AMD fan: FAN: Super Silent UPTO 2700+ you need a pentium fan.

2) What is a Network Card? Allows broadband and fast ethernet network connection for a home network. (Connect 2 PC's togeather,)

3) Memory is 512 MB, but what does 'Memory in Bank 1' mean? Means that it only occupies one slot on the motherboard, ussualy more expensive but anyway that is a fast a good way to have it.

It is a very good PC actually for a home user.

It sounds quite good but much depends upon the kind of warranty offered, whether you are getting the actual full WinXP on CD-ROM (GOOD) or just preloaded (with or without a Rescue Disk)(BAD), and whether there are any hidden extras such as insurance and delivery.
A network card allows you to link your PC to one or more others without any extra hardware at your end.
Memory is adequate for XP and is on a single card installed in slot (or bank) one, leaving one or more other slots free to install further memory later (if you'll want more soon do it now, as adding anything later whilst still under guarantee may cause unwelcome issues).
A midi case is adequate if you don't envisage doing a lot of upgrading in the future. If you want more space for further drives, front panel socket bays, removable hard drive caddy or whatever, then a large tower case is better and also runs a bit cooler.
Does your PC have USB2 specification? If only 1.1 spec., then upgrade to 2.0.
Why no CD-RW burner? Very useful for back-ups as media now so cheap.
Cheers. LC.

Cool, now that I know SKT means socket, I chaned a few things.

The Pentium 4 Processor has a Fan INCLUDED, so that is sorted.
I changed the Motherboard to Jetway P4X400DA + Sound (ATX) (SKT478) (DDRAM)
Also, I changed the caseto a Blue 4 Bay ATX Midi Tower Case 400w

I'll get a re-writer when I have more money, hehe

Don't need Network Card, but I'll think of using memory bank 1.

with the changes, its £40 cheaper, lol. I might get a new Moniter :)

Lol, all this because I wanted to play EvE, lolol

Thanks guys. Anything further you want to say, I'll be glad to listern
