Is it possible to get a list of the contents of a folder that can be saved and edited say in notepad or word or IE?

If its not possible thru windows, is there a proggy available that can do it.

Thanks

Mike

yep, there is a very good freeware program out there - - -think its dirlist or dirprt or something, I have it at home and if you get no more responses to this, will sort it out for you.

I have downloaded dirlist however i can only print the lists from it, that was the only thing i did'nt want to do, lol

Unless I'm doing something wrong, basically i want a editable file.

Cheers

cd \ to change directory to root

cd \Mydocu~1 or whatever to get to the directory you want to list

dir *.* to list the files you want

dir *.* /-p to prevent the output pausing

dir *.* /b to list file names only

dir *.* /-p > Files.txt to redirect the output to a file called Files.txt

Files.txt will be created in the current directory. You can combine switches dir *.* /-p /b /os (= order size, od = order date, etc.)

it is dirprt I was thinking of - - - you can print or create txt files from it. Get it from

Pesala's method will work - - - but not everyone wants to go into dos and do that, this utility is windows base and is almost idiot proof.
