Generic Host Problem

  Ginger Winger 14:39 22 Feb 04

Help wanted please. Every time I log onto the internet, after a minute or so, I get a pop up message which states "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encountered a problem & needs to close". The pc then will not let me disconnect from the ISP and I have to turn it off and go through the whole process of logging on again only to be chucked out once more! Anyone have any ideas whats the problem and is there a fix.

It's possible you have the Blaster Worm virus click here

"possibly" the MSBlaster worm.

Thanks to the two of you that replied. I couldn't open the "click here" features. I run Norton Anti Virus regularly and it did not pick up the virus. Also, following your reply, I downloaded W32.Blaster.Worm Removal tool and VBS.Loveletter Fix from Symatec. Neither showed that the virus was present. Any other ideas?

Whilst MSblaster is ONE reason for this message its not the only reason.

Please provide more info about your hardware, software and ISP.
